When the world is about to end, do you still keep fighting? From the moment, Kamala put on her costume, she’s been challenged, but nothing has prepared her for this: the Last Days of the Marvel Universe. Fists up, let’s do this, Jersey City. Plus a VERY special guest appearance fans have been clamoring for!

COLLECTING: MS. MARVEL #16-19, MATERIAL FROM AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #7-8

I don’t know how many people who do the weekly WoW’s are comic book fans, but I have to say, I think the new Ms. Marvel is someone that all fiction readers can relate to and enjoy. Kamala Khan is the perfect heroine for our society, and I think she’s a wonderful representation of teens and Americans today. She’s got such a weight on her shoulders, yet she is written with so much grace and humor. The illustrations are phenomenal and I’m so excited to see what challenge she is going to face next. The premise gives me quite a bit of pause though… the last days of the Marvel Universe???? Noooooo, please, noooo!!! I want many more adventures with this awesome heroine! Also, that special guest… come on, it HAS to be my other girl Carol Danvers!?! Right? She’s only Kamala’s idol, and you know that’s who everyone wants it to be… You better make me happy Marvel!

50 Day Movie Challenge: Day 1

Welcome to the beginning of my 50 Day Movie Challenge!

On other sites I’ve seen bloggers do 20, or 30 day challenges like this, so I decided to mash up a bunch of those questions and came up with 50 that I’m going to attempt to answer consecutively over the next month and a half (or so). If you’d like to try and do it too, feel free! I’ll post all the questions as I go along, and I hope you enjoy my answers!

Day 1: What is the best movie you saw during the past year?

This is a little tricky, because those people I count among my friends and family know I’m notoriously easy to please. I find it so easy to get caught up in the movie magic of it all, and there’ve been some wonderful films which have come out in the past year. That being said, I think the one that, for me, was the best, was Guardians of the Galaxy.

Here’s why…

Reason 1: It was visually stunning. The effects, CGI, the costumes, and all the other visual aspects of the film were extremely well done. Make-up was great. The movement and action sequences were tight and well-choreographed. I don’t see how it could have been done better.

Reason 2: The story was extremely well-plotted. I’m a big fan of Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios in general, but when I first heard about Guardians, I was a bit annoyed. Because I have zero background in the comic books of this world, so I had no idea what to do with a whole new galaxy of characters. Upon seeing this movie, from the first second, it instantly grounded me in who the characters were and what they needed to do. I was able to catch on immediately and keep up throughout, which is not always easy with fantasy and sci-fi worlds.

Reason 3: It kept me laughing! There were so many jokes, and plenty of sarcasm and wit put into this film. It was just so much fun! See it and try not to laugh; I dare you.

So that’s it. That’s my pick, and that’s my first day of the challenge.

Wish me luck in keeping up!!
