Oh, The Places I’d Like to Go

Oh, There are So Very Many Places I’d Like to Go…

Since the Travel Bug originally made a home for itself deep in the depths of my soul, there are so many places that have caught my eye, many for the sheer beauty of the natural world to be found there, and others for their cultural or historical interest. This page is dedicated to those places, which, over time I hope will become a shorter list as I possibly eventually explore the world more fully.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” — Mark Twain

GreeceGreece:

One of the first places to ever capture my imagination was Greece. Between the mythology and the landscapes, it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful and culturally significant place to explore…

New ZealandNew Zealand:

My first glance at the stunning vistas of New Zealand came from watching The Lord of the Rings movies, and I was absolutely blown away by how incredible this country looked. Not only do I want to go there to stay in a Hobbit hole for the night, but I want to see all the incredible views up close. Mountains, oceans, countryside and cityscapes, this place has it all!

ScotlandScotland:

Not only is this one of the most gorgeous and rugged countries I’ve ever seen, but it is also the chosen home of the magnificent J.K. Rowling. Aside from spending time searching for her in every local café I can find, I’d love to explore the Highlands which are so often written about, and discover more of the history of this fascinating place.

South Africa:South Africa

I think one of the main reasons I’d like to visit South Africa (notably Cape Town) is to see the place that has had such an incredible impact on the US and the world at large. Visiting the home of Nelson Mandela, and discovering more of the culture  would be such an amazing experience. I’d love the opportunity to see everything up close.

AustraliaAustralia:

I can’t even imagine not having the opportunity to travel Down Under, to explore the vast deserts and eye-popping coastlines of Australia. Almost every film I see, that is set here gives me new places to add to my “Must See” list. From Darwin in the north, to Melbourne in the South, and Sydney in the east, to Perth in the west. This is a place that is just made for adventures.

Spain:

One of the reasons I’ve become so recently drawn to Spain is the architecture. Due to its physical location in the world, the country has such large and varied influences in both it’s culture and its look. Notable architects like Antoni Gaudí have created buildings that are among the finest works of art in the world. Visiting here would be a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.

HungaryHungary:

Specifically, it is the capitol of Budapest that has caught my eye. I know little to nothing of the history of this region, and for that reason, I’d like to go there, and learn the history and culture from the source!
