Teaser Tuesdays: Vision in Silver and Magic Breaks

Teaser Tuesdays

It’s time for another “Teaser Tuesday!”

This feature (or meme)  is one I originally discovered on my friend Kim’s site Book Munchies, and is hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm. For those of you who would like to play along at home (or more specifically on your homepage), here is how Teaser Tuesdays work.

– Grab (one of) your current read(s) and open it to a random page
– Share a couple “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
– BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

—> Now on to the main event!

I’m so in love with both of my books this week. Anne Bishop has been my favorite author for over a decade, and Ilona Andrews is a new favorite (but is just as wonderful.) I’m squeezing all the awesome I can into this post!

Vision in Silver (The Others, #3) by Anne Bishop

Hardcover, 400 pages
Publisher: Penguin Publishing Group
Release Date: March 3rd, 2015
ISBN# 9780451465276
Page: 13

“I see.” And he did see. Label anyone who wanted to keep peace between humans and the terra indigene as a Wolf lover, especially if that person directly interacted with the Others in any capacity, and force those people to choose between having a job and feeding their families, and opposing the fools who would provoke a fight that would end with many, many humans dead or driven out of the city.

And here’s a slightly longer teaser from Magic Breaks, because the whole scene just made me crack up:

Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels, #7) by Ilona Andrews

Hardcover, 348 pages
Publisher: Ace Hardcover
Release Date: July 29th, 2014
ISBN# 9780425256220
Page: 78

Robert gaped at me. Desandra make a weird face: her right eyebrow crept up, her left went down, and her mouth got stuck somewhere between surprise and the beginning of the word “what/” Derek’s mouth opened and didn’t close until we came to a halt next to him.

“What the hell is this?” Desandra asked.

“This is Cuddles. She’s a mammoth donkey.”

Derek grinned, leaning on the fence. “Do you have any self-respect left?”

“Nope.”

“I think she’s cute.” Desandra reached out.

Cuddles promptly tried to bite her. Desandra jerked her hand away and bared her teeth. “Donkey, you don’t know who you’re messing with. I’ll eat you for breakfast.”

“Where to now?” I asked.

    1. No, none of her other series are quite as dark as the Black Jewels series. And the first in that series is the darkest. They get a little lighter after Daughter of the blood. But, The Others might be a good one for you to try out with her. First book is called Written in Red. There’s also her Tir Alainn trilogy (which I adored, but they’re harder to find nowadays).
