My 50 Day Movie Challenge is off and running!
So far, so good! (lol, I know, I know, 2 days in a row is nothing!) But here’s what’s going on right now. On other sites I’ve seen bloggers do 20, or 30 day challenges all about movies, so I decided to mash up a bunch of those questions and came up with 50 that I’m going to attempt to answer consecutively over the next month and a half (or so). If you’d like to try and do it too, feel free! I’ll post all the questions as I go along, and I hope you enjoy my answers!
Day 2: What is Your Favorite Film Genre?
This answer is so easy for me. Hands down I’m going with the Action/Adventure genre of film!
Why you might ask?
It’s pretty simple. I love the adrenaline and pacing of these films much more than any other. I like the fast action, snappy dialogue, explosions, car chases, spies, swords and sorcery, and more that fall under this umbrella category. Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the other genres. Dramas can really leave a mark on you if they’re done right, and comedy can just make you feel so good and light after they’re done, but for me, nothing is better than a really great action or adventure flick.
In this category you’ve got all the wonderful sub-genres of spy films, fantasy and epic quests, war stories, superheroes, sci-fi and space operas; stories that can really transport you and your imagination. Whether its a book, TV, or film; to me, there is nothing more creative than completely making up a new world (or worlds) with rules that don’t apply in ours, or creatures and places that don’t exist. When it’s done right, you get an epic like Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars that people feel like they can really fall into. There’s a reason they are so popular. Same thing with spy flicks like James Bond which have been around for decades and are constantly being revised and reinvented. I think with Action and Adventure, there is more of a wish-fulfillment going on than with any other. It is here that we can play and pretend and take part in stories that seem so much bigger than ourselves. No offense to the other genres, but I’ll take a story like that any day.
Well, that’s it. That’s day 2 of my challenge.
Wish me luck in keeping up!!
