Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen—all of them—and they’re stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood—the blood of Olympus—in order to wake.

The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it “might” be able to stop a war between the two camps.

The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea’s army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

Oh gods, oh gods, oh gods! It’s the FINAL book in the second Percy Jackson series, The Heroes of Olympus! So if you’ve ever read a Percy Jackson book before, you might understand my co-mingling emotions of elation and despair. It’s horrible that its ending, and yet, the stories have built and built to these final moments and battles. I’m so excited for this!! The characters are phenomenal, so varied in personality but they really ALL have personality and that is so hard to do with such a large cast of characters. Rick Riordan’s ability to tell this story is so incredible. I just, I can’t. How am I gonna deal with this? I have no idea. But I can’t wait until I have to!

What are you waiting for this week?

  1. Great pick! I haven’t read the second Percy Jackson series yet, but I loved the first one and have heard great things about the second one. Maybe I’ll try and read them all before this one comes out!

  3. Is it really terrible of me to have not read any Percy Jackson yet? I’m actually cringing because I feel like I’m letting my fellow book nerds down! I guess with the final one coming out it’s about time I started them! I really hope you love it, though 🙂

  4. I have Percy Jackson on my TBR, but I haven’t gotten around to it, even though I own several of the books. I hope this is a good one for you 🙂
